At software-maps.com we offer map software products, as well as select GPS/software bundles and the Magellan Triton Handheld GPS receivers, from major companies in the business. Map software titles from National Geographic, DeLorme, Garmin, Magellan, and others are or will be available. This is all we do. We believe that software maps are excellent products to help us hike and travel. We want to specialize in this field, to find the best products on the market, and to offer these to you, the customer, at a fair price and in a hassle-free experience.

We have been using software maps for a number of years. For hiking and orientation in unfamiliar places they are indispensable together with a good GPS system. Currently, we offer select products from National Geographic, DeLorme, Garmin, and Magellan. These include topographic maps of the United States, and city maps for the entire country. These are the core products that help in hiking and city adventures. We are users as well, and together with other contributors, will include our stories, hikes, and trips in the Adventures part of the website.

Pricing:

At software-maps.com, the price of each item includes free economy shipping, so that what you see is what you pay. Except, of course, if you live in California. In this case, we have to charge you sales tax. There will be an extra charge if you'd like to get your order shipped some other method, as described below.

All orders above $2,000 qualify for a volume discount. Please contact us for further details and a quote.

We accept VISA, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express credit cards. You may also pay via PayPal, or using a money order. All credit card payments as well as payment via PayPal are processed using SSL secure servers. If you are using a money order, please make sure that your payment reaches us within two weeks of the purchase date. Otherwise, we'll cancel your purchase and return the ordered item back to stock.

We accept Purchase Orders from Institutions, Organizations, and Government agencies. Please contact us regarding details of the Purchase Order process.

Order Fulfillment:

If you place your order Sunday through Thursday by midnight Pacific Standard Time (PST), we will ship your order the following day. If you place your order Friday or Saturday by midnight PST, we will ship your order on the following Monday. We make every reasonable effort to meet this shipping schedule. However, unforseen cirumstances may delay your order. In these cases, we will notify you via e-mail as to the status of your order.

Customer Service:

Since we're an on-line merchant, we can only build trust with you, the customer, through a painless, hassle-free transaction. We feel that in most cases this will happen. However, unforseen difficulties do arise. In these cases, we offer you unparalleled customer service. We will work with you to resolve any issues that arise. Here are some comments from satisfied customers.

Shipping Charges:

We use United States Postal Service (USPS) Media Mail as the default, free shipping method to any US address. Media Mail is an economical way to ship software within the US, taking anywhere from two to 10 business days for the package to arrive. If you need your product sooner, please look at our other shipping options.

Other options for shipping your order are USPS Priority Mail, United Parcel Service (UPS) Ground, and UPS Red Next Day Air (overnight, afternoon delivery). The shipping methods can be summarized as follows:

All UPS rates shown above are approximate, and are provided for reference only. The exact UPS shipping charges will be calculated at the time of checkout, based on the ship-to zip code. UPS Next Day Air service to the 48 contiguous states is the Next Day Air Saver, delivery next afternoon. UPS Next Day Air service to Alaska and Hawaii is standard Next Day Air. UPS Next Day Air service may not be available to all zip codes.

Here is some additional information regarding shipping of orders outside the United States:

1. At this time, we will ship orders to most European countries, in addition to the United States and Canada.

2. Shipping will be via United States Postal Service International Priority Mail, and the cost will vary according to destination and shipping weight, but typically will be approximately $15.00 to $25.00.  The order should arrive within ten to 15 business days, but may take as many as 20 to 25 business days (four to five weeks), depending on customs clearence.  We hope that you will understand that we can offer free shipping only to US addresses.

3. Any customs duties will be your responsibility, both in the United States and in the destination country.  We don't expect any customs fees in the US, so only the destination country duties might be an issue.

Our policy regarding the privacy of the information that you, the customer, provides to us as part of the purchase transaction is simple. At software-maps.com we keep all collected information completely confidential. We will never release, sell, or share any information about individuals to anyone, period.

Returns:

If you change your mind regarding the purchase, you may return any unopened product for a full refund, minus any shipping payments that you made. You'll need to request a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number. The RMA number allows us to plan for the return of the product that you have ordered. The product must be shipped back to us within 30 days from the day that your original order was shipped to you. Shipping of the unopened item back to us for refund will be at your cost.

Like other software products, opened map software can be returned only if defective, for exchange with an identical item. If you receive a defective item as part of your order, you'll need to request an RMA number. The defective product must be shipped back to us within 30 days from the day that your original order was shipped to you. Once the returned item arrives at our store, we will dispatch the replacement item. Again, only defective items may be returned. An identical replacement item will be sent and no refund will be given. Shipping of the defective item back to us will be at your cost, however, we will send the replacement item to you free of charge via USPS Media Mail.

Adventure paper products, once opened cannot be returned.

The same return policies apply to GPS/software bundles, with one exception. If you are not satisfied with the performance of the GPS hardware included in the bundle, you may return an opened product for refund within 30 days from the day that your original order was shipped to you. We will charge a 15% restocking fee on all opened GPS/software bundles being returned for a refund.

RMA numbers can only be requested by e-mail. In most cases, we will respond with the RMA number assigned to your return within 24-48 hours. We will not accept returns without an RMA number.
