National Geographic scanned every USGS Quadrangle (over 55,000 of them), color corrected each one, and developed a seamless data set that spans all 50 states. The underlying DEM information is compiled at 1 Arc-second, or 30 meters. This provides a consistent data set that can be used for multiple topographic purposes. The data set is also edge-matched, making it easy to do large mosaics, without the hassles of removing collars or text. USGS data sets are the standard in topographic information. |
